Also, to those participating in today’s restrictive food culture, oat milk’s lack of dairy, nuts, soy, and other common allergens is a plus, along with being environmentally sensible as well. Wins all around!
There are many studies and milk-alternative comparisons. Lots of information out there, pros and cons on all sides. Our environmental footprint is something we want to be conscious about and take steps to reduce it where and when we can. Having our oat milk from Minor Figures is an easy choice.
Like most plant-based milks, it takes a lot of energy to turn oats into milk. Oats, however, contribute less carbon to the atmosphere than other plants and require less water. For example, almonds require over six times as much water to grow as oats do, according to the Water Footprint Network. In this case, the choice to switch from almond milk to oat milk made sense. Thus far, oat milk does have a lower adverse environmental impact, compared to soy and almond.
Oats also use 80% less land to grow than dairy milk. In fact, a glass of oat milk is responsible for less greenhouse gas emissions than soy milk or dairy milk. Along with emissions, land use, and water use, we are aware that packaging also contributes to our overall impact. Minor Figures Oat M*lk uses recycled paper instead of plastic, soy-based ink instead of petroleum ink, and eco-friendly shipping packaging wherever possible.
We definitely encourage you to do your own research for what’s best for your diet and lifestyle, and hope you appreciate the consideration we’ve taken in regards to your milk-alternative choice.
